View Workflow Recipe for Conditions for project

Conditions for project

Deliverable: Document ideas, Domain: Any R&D, Source: SENSORICA

This resource type is represented by documents that describe the processes to put in place the conditions for a project to succeed, or a product to emerge.
This resource type is used in a workflow recipe for product development.
The workflow recipe is a formalized methodology, that allows you to plan the development process. This recipe works in combination with the R&D report recipe. See hos they interact in this diagrame

Create spaces

Creating the space for the project.
SENSORICA projects are collaborative. Therefore, different virtual spaces are needed to allow people to interact, co-design and document the results of their work.
The project needs a
* public central space (website page),
* database (for documents, videos and pictures, charts, design files, etc.)
* social media space (Facebook, Twitter, G+, etc.)

Some integration might be required, in order to automate content propagation from one space to another. You might consider ITTT.

Inputs
work 20.00 min Work - Design website
Deliverable: Program computer, Work: Design work

Create webpage for the project on SENSORICA's website.

work 3.00 HR Work - Infrastructure development
Work: Non-production work

Create foundational documents, only as placeholders, NOT the content necessarily. The content will come later, within a specific process.
Place all these resources in their proper virtual space, part of the database, website, etc. All projects should have a project page and a place in the database.

* Project Main Doc - main source of info, will be continuously updated
* Project Governance Doc - how the project is governed
* Value Equation Agreement Doc - how value generated is redistributed

[NOTE: You can use available templates, just search "template" in SENSORICA's database. If you don't find one, make one]

Project Governance Doc - template
https://sites.google.com/site/sensoricahome/home/what-we-do/working-space/procedures#TOC-Create-project-governance-document
Save the template under a different name and place it in the project's database. Link to it from the Project's page.

Work for mapping interest in the project.

Every project must have a "Path to market" page associated with it. Open the project's Path to Market page and document who would be interested the product-idea, who would be interested in actively participating, or in sourcing the project, or in spreading the word about the project.
To find the Path to market page use the website's search bar to search for the "name of the project" and "path to market".

work 2.00 HR Work - Analysis and Strategy
Work: Non-production work

Create a communication strategy.

Save that in a document in SENSORICA's database and link to it as a resource. This document will also be used later, in other outreach campaigns.
The goal here is to get feedback for the project idea and to gather some initial resources around the project, including early participants.

work 16.00 HR Work - Artistic
Work: Non-production work

Create picture and video(s) for outreach.

These resources are going to be used in the outreach campaign, but it is highly recommended that you also use them on the Project's page of the project's Path to market page, wherever appropriate.

Store these resources somewhere on the web and make them accessible to the public, in order to allow others to use them and to embed them.

work 20.00 HR Work - Outreach-Marketing
Work: Non-production work

Orchestrate the outreach campaign. This requires social media and live activity to spread the message and to gather support. It feeds on the communication strategy and all the support material that has been created.

work 8.00 HR Work - Writing
Work: Non-production work

Create text material for outreach.

This can be the mission of the project, description, milestones, etc. Save this text in the Path to market page of the project, in the appropriate section. To find the Path to market page use the website's search bar to search for the "name of the project" and "path to market".

work 10.00 HR Work - Administration
Work: Non-production work

Create and adopt governance document for the project.

Every project is governed independently, it has its own value equation and governance.
The Project Governance Doc is a very important foundational document that will save a lot of time later and will greatly reduce the risk of conflicts during the course of the project.
NOTE: The Project Governance Doc is a participatory document, meaning that everyone involved in the beginning should adopt it. You can start from a template and remix your own. The Project Governance Doc must contain a process for changing the governance at a later moment.

work 8.00 HR Work - Administration
Work: Non-production work

Create and adopt a Value Equation Agreement.

Every project is governed independently, meaning that it has its own value equation and its own governance.

See more about value equation

Outreach for resources

Signal needs and tell people how they can help.

Create a communication strategy and all the materials necessary for an outreach campaign. This campaign is designed to attract resources to the project. A crowdfunding campaign is one form of outreach that could fit here, but we need to think larger than that, to attract people with skills, spaces, equipment and tools, $ and more.

work 20.00 HR Work - Analysis and Strategy
Work: Non-production work

Create a communication strategy.

Save that in a document in SENSORICA's database and link to it in this process as a resource. This document might already exist if it was already created at the earlier stage. You might want to read other communication strategy document and get inspired. Search SENSORICA's database for "Communication strategy"
The main goal here is to get all the necessary resources for the project, including participants.

work 15.00 HR Work - Information mining
Work: Non-production work

Create a list of existing technology

The goal here is to avoid reinventing the wheel as much as possible and to speed up innovation. The accent is put on open source technologies that can be remixed.

Use some tool for gathering information about all existing technologies that can be applied in this project. You can use Diigo https://groups.diigo.com/group/sensorica-knowledge or simply a spreadsheet. If you use Diigo, create a tag specific to this search, to make it easier for others to find/filter the data.

Place the information in categories, as mechanical, electronics, optics, attributes or functions, etc.

This material will be used later to make a decision about what to integrate and how much to build on top of existing technologies.

Concept Selection

After the concept generation we have to select the best concepts to produce. For that we can build a criteria matrix referencing each of the concepts and weighting them. Rate and rank the concepts according to the outputs of the benchmark. If necessary, combine and improve different concepts (remove bad features and combine good qualities). After all as an output we are gonna have the best concept that may be more than one.

Keep in mind that this is a reflective process that should be in continuous improvement.
